In 2016 I self-published the first edition of The Ghost of Emily via print-on-demand and audiobook distribution platforms. I didn’t know how to market a book, and frankly, when I started, I didn’t know how to write a book. I really had no idea, but I had read enough great literature to know what I liked, and I set about trying to tell a story that came to me of a whim, and never stopped growing.
Since then, the first book has been re-written and re-edited multiple times, up to its current (and shall remain current, even if I edit again!) state here on my Substack. It is not in print currently, nor is the audiobook available, except the first 9 chapters here as a free preview. The full audiobooks for 1 & 2 are still in (sporadic) production. It’s a one-man-project, so your paid membership on this site is appreciated to help me justify taking time off from other earning activities to keep building this universe and telling its stories.
The first book is depicted here in this trailer I made over many months with the use of Midjourney and iMovie (even the music is iMovie provided, I’m trying not to waste time over-producing things that are simply promotional tools, and spend more time getting the 3rd book done!).
You can read THE GHOST OF EMILY now, here, on this site, for free, without paid membership (but do sign up and leave a comment if you do!). Book 2 THE GHOST OF DELACROIX will be rolled out here in the coming months, chapter per week, but only to paid members.
This book, Emily, was ahead of its time in 2016, predictive of more than one real-world global event, but it still tells eerily prophetic stories about our relationship with AI and where it is taking our culture, our philosophical view of life, our religiosity, and our will to live in the near future. I’m very proud to have crafted this from my own imagination and hours and hours and hours of typing and editing. Please read, and enjoy, and if you love it or have burning questions, leave comments on each chapter as you go.
Thanks for reading!
